Prairie Flyer Bluegrass Band

        Prairie Flyer

Date: Saturday, February 4th, 2006 (7:00pm PST)
Venue: Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church (Victoria, BC  Canada)
Admission: $20 - click here for advance tickets

These concerts are a tender tribute to the common people spirit, and to the enduring value of the plaintive and celebratory music that emerged from country farm fields, front porches and backwoods churches.

The life affirming musical format of sacred and positive secular music is grand; the performances are direct and unpretentious in their presentation of both. The utilitarian atmosphere and simple grand stage at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church will enhance the earthy loveliness of some brilliant Bluegrass and Mountain Gospel music.

Like the music that inspired it, the live presentation will be sweet, serene, eccentric and moving. The whole family can capture this wholesome, joyous and free-spirited musical celebration…

About Us

Welcome to the Bluegrass & Gospel Concert web site!

Lynn and I are dedicated to the promotion and furtherance of country/roots music (Bluegrass, Mountain Blues and Old-Time) and the Gospel music tradition inspired by these styles (Bluegrass Gospel and Mountain Gospel). We are trying to do as much as we can by presenting a program of live concerts with the finest Bluegrass bands, performing equal portions of sacred and positive secular songs, at a low ticket price! We are very proud of the concerts produced to date and hope God will allow us the opportunity to produce many more. We thank you for your support as we feel you are a partner with us and without your support there would be no purpose in what we are doing…

Mountain music is not contemporary and much of it was not conceived with the idea of commercial exploitation. If it ever had a vogue, it is long past.

Ray & Lynn with local musicians
& supporters of Bluegrass Gospel

The songs were for the most part created by people whose lives were hard and horizons narrow. Their lives were not like ours. All that urges their music on us is its humanity. Oddly, their music has left behind descendants that are commercial: rock and roll and contemporary country. But in its original form it had more dignity, perhaps, than could ever survive the great-and terrible-success of rock and country music. Without the monitors or stacks of speakers common at contemporary concerts, on a spare stage lit simply but dramatically, the artists use classic instruments and sing into vintage microphones, their sound as honest and clear as their music…
